Every day, a sad dog came to church. He would quietly sit in a corner and attentively listen to the prayers. One day, the priest noticed his constant presence and decided to find out the reason — and what he discovered shocked him.
After the service, he approached the dog, knelt down, and gently stroked his furry coat. The dog sighed deeply and looked toward the altar, as if remembering something.
On the old, worn collar, the priest noticed a small metal tag. It read:
“Bim. If you’re reading this — it means I’m gone. Thank you for being by my side. — Ann.”
The next day, the priest decided to find out more and followed the dog all the way to the edge of the forest, where a small wooden cross stood with Anna’s name on it.
It turned out that this woman used to come to church every Sunday with her dog, Bim. They would sit together in the same corner, and after the service, she always shared some bread with him.
A year earlier, Anna had passed away from an illness. Since her funeral, Bim had come to the church every day and sat in the same place, as if waiting for her to return.
The priest was deeply moved. From that day on, he always left food and water for the dog. Over time, the whole congregation learned about his loyalty and began caring for him too.
But one morning, something was different. Bim didn’t show up. His usual spot near the altar was empty, though there was a small envelope resting there. Inside was a photo of Anna holding Bim, with a note written on the back:
“Now I’m together with Bim again — in peace and endless fields of light. Thank you to everyone who loved him and cared for him when I no longer could.”
